Okay so I’ve started work on my chemistry lab project and I’ve spent most of today working on a microscope. I got really into this model and I probably put more detail into it than I should, but I’m actually really happy with it! So happy in fact, that I just had to show it off. Textures are preliminary, lighting is nonexistant, and the model isn’t finished. This is just what I’ve got done so far today.

Okay so stage 3 turned out to really be more refinement of textures, but from these you can see it’s starting to come together quite nicely. College Dorm - Stage 1

So this is sort of where it begins, I guess. I’ve been asked to model a college dorm room, single occupancy, in Maya. These pictures are simply showing off the basic blocking of the scene to make sure I like where everything is at, and I tossed on some basic textures just so everything wasn’t gray. Better textures are coming and I’m sure other things will change as we go. For now… stage 1!

This is the first of my two final projects for my Animation II class. It was to be a conversation between three or more individuals from a movie. The most obvious choice for me was the scene from Dawn of the Dead (1978) in which Peter, played by Ken Foree, delivers his now-famous line. Due to time constraints I had to cut it short so I didn’t get all the way to the end. I hope to remedy that this summer. Characters were not modeled by me, I found them on the Internet and two of them are from Resident Evil 5. Dawn of the Dead was not filmed by me. All I did was the animating of the characters’ faces.

I just heard the saddest news I’ve heard since… well, a while. Engadget’s got an article up saying that Microsoft has confirmed that awesome little dual-screen tablet they had teased, the “Courier”, is not going to be coming out. Pardon my language, but SHIT Microsoft. I was more excited about this than any other tech in a long time! More than the iPhone 4G! This would have been the ultimate for me as a writer and as a student. Please, for the love of God, change your mind on this! I was already saving up for it! HP Buys Palm

Engadget just revealed that HP, of all people, is buying Palm for a cool $1.2 billion. I’m… not entirely sure why they would do this, but hey, good for Palm! I’m glad to see them live on rather than the alternative that seemed almost inevitable. Wonder where we’ll see WebOS pop up next?
